Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR, is a therapeutic technique developed to address a multitude of issues ranging from PTSD to depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and many more. When bad things happen to us, our brains adapt accordingly as a self-protective measure. While this adaptation may be lifesaving in the short term, it can form the basis of major obstacles later on. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to reprocess negative experiences and enable individuals to respond more appropriately to current stressors. EMDR has been found to be remarkably effective in working with victims of trauma, individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, phobias, and many other common therapeutic issues. Trained in EMDR and with several thousand hours of combined EMDR experience, Dr. McGowan and her team of EMDR-trained clinicians work with individuals to overcome their own unique struggles. Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is sought for a variety of reasons. While anxiety, depression, stress, grief, and anger may be a few of the more common reasons individuals seek therapy, most people tend to find that these issues run much deeper than their most obvious "symptoms." Working through the underlying issues from an integrated perspective forms the basis of therapy. You may be feeling lost or stuck, hurting or confused. As time goes on, you find yourself doing things that reinforce or perpetuate these feelings. Your relationships may be suffering, your work may be becoming increasingly difficult to manage, and your home environment may be tense and chaotic as a result. Gaining perspective from a professional can be the first step in finding your way out of this cycle.
Sex Therapy
Therapy to address sexual issues can be difficult to find. At Ozark Psychotherapy Group, we have brought on a wonderful therapist, Heather Vinti, who has extensive training in sex therapy and works with individuals and couples to address and improve issues related to sex. Heather is a member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT), and works well with a variety of sexual issues, including but not limited to: lack of desire, sexual dysfunction, pain, and overcoming sex-related shame. Heather is comfortable working with erotically marginalized populations and is dedicated to being LGBTQIA+, Poly/CNM, and Kink friendly and affirming. Telehealth (Video Therapy)
Sessions conducted via HIPAA-secure video conference are a great option for clients with scheduling, health, or transportation issues. Clients meeting via video can expect to receive a similar experience to in-person therapy.
Couple Therapy
Relationships can be the most rewarding or the most difficult aspects of our lives. Whether you are dating, engaged, married, or considering divorce, couple therapy can provide the push you need to change the way you and your partner relate to one another, and in turn, the way you each experience your relationship. You may be battling with the aftermath of an affair, experiencing sexual difficulties, arguing over shared decisions, struggling to relate with your in-laws, or disagreeing on parenting issues. Regardless of what brings you into couples' therapy, assistance from a therapist specifically trained to navigate relational issues can help restore peace, passion, and intimacy to your relationship. At our clinic, Dr. Morgan McGowan, Dr. April Bachrodt, and Heather Vinti all see couples. Dr. McGowan and Heather work primarily from a Gottman Couples perspective, and Dr. Bachrodt is EFT-trained and oriented.

Group Therapy
As common issues begin to arise among individual clients, couples, and families, Ozark Psychotherapy Group will begin offering group therapy services. This will allow clients to begin addressing these issues with people struggling in similar ways. Group therapy will always be optional, but many clients find this setting quite helpful.
